Action Plan.
Bringing Te Aroha home.

There has been a huge and overwhelming voice of support throughout the Whaingaroa community for the Te Aroha return. Its obvious that getting some certainty that its going to happen is a big thing at the front of everyone's minds. Rest assured that everyone that knows the Ship and has practical experience with this sort of thing are very certain that every part of this can be done with little fuss, expense, and only a moderate amount of enjoyable work, in a social and inspiring environment by an assorted mix of the community. That there is also an open door to various funding channels that can be tapped into by existing local trusts, educational, Iwi and other community development bodies is certainly icing on the cake. We are committed to keeping the door open on this for as diverse and inclusive involvement here as possible.
We are meeting tonight for a second fundraising event and a planning session for immediate extraction of Te Aroha from Port Whangarei to Totara North. Getting her nice and watertight and installing a couple of auxiliary engines in her engine room for the trip up is a piece of cake, and quite an escort fleet is accumulating. Its going to be a lot of fun. This is a solid working ship that's been having a beauty spa treatment to open up her pores, and after a facial and some dental work she'll be pulling at the halter as always.
The initial fundraising target of $2500 due by 1 November to save the ship is around halfway there, and a few dollars each from the many should make things more secure. We have a few probables that should get uys over the line but around $1000 expenses are needed above this to get the Ship home. KaitiakiTeAroha@gmail.com has paypal set up for deposits, or transfer to Aaron Franklin kiwibank 38-9002-0788082-00 reference Te Aroha.
